This research will look at: 1) the causes that lead to the emergence of unlicensed gold miners (Gurandil), 2) the degree of the environmental damage caused by illegal gold mining (PETI), and 3) the socio-economic effects of illegal gold mining. A qualitative research method with an ethnometological approach was used in this study. In June 2021, the research was conducted in a mining site in Citorek Kidul Village, Cibeber District, Lebak Regency. The village chief, five village authorities, 25 illegal miners, and other relevant parties to the research issue are among the research informants. Observation, interviews, and documentation are examples of data collection methods. Data was collected, a problem was formulated, data was screened, and conclusions were drawn utilizing four qualitative research procedures. The study's findings demonstrate that gold mining without permits has detrimental environmental consequences, including air pollution, poor Cimari river quality, forest conversion, river silting, the appearance of big holes, soil abrasion, and the extinction of Rasamala and Damar plants.
